I agree that we should not judge people for a lack of education, though for the vast majority of people it is a valuable credential. I know so many brilliant people who could not survive the structure of a traditional education, but I could nonetheless trust them to perform better than some of the star students. In fact, if it weren't for the value that American universities and employers place on extracurricular activities, I would have never been able to show my full potential-- my grades, while good, were not the best, but my performance where it counts has been pretty good, I like to think. Look to performance, not to credentials, especially in creative fields.
